How to Make a Rant Layout Video
To make a rant layout video, first create a transparent PNG layout, then place that PNG over a vertical video background as an overlay. If your video is 30 seconds long, the PNG overlay layer also needs to last 30 seconds.
Quick workflow
- 1Make a layout in RantLayout.
- 2Choose Transparent PNG before downloading.
- 3Open CapCut, TikTok, or your video editor.
- 4Add your slime video, edit clip, or plain background first.
- 5Add the rant layout PNG as an overlay layer.
- 6Resize the overlay with fit or manual scaling, not crop.
- 7Stretch the PNG overlay to cover the full video length.
- 8Add your rant text, captions, voice, or music and export.
1. Make the layout as a transparent PNG
In the Rant Layout Maker, build the frame, dividers, stickers, uploaded sprite, and watermark first. Keep the center area open because that is where your final rant text or captions will go in the video editor.
When you download, choose transparent PNG if you want a slime video, edit clip, or moving background to show behind the layout. Choose white PNG only when you want the layout itself to be the full background.
Use a vertical video
Start with a 9:16 clip or canvas for TikTok-style edits. Add the background video before the PNG overlay.
Avoid crop mode
Use fit or manual resizing for the PNG. Do not use a fill/crop setting if it cuts off the edges.
Match the timeline
For a 30-second video, stretch the PNG overlay layer so it stays visible for the full 30 seconds.
2. Add the PNG over your video background
Open your editor and put the moving background on the main track first. This can be a slime clip, a soft edit background, a blurred color video, or any video you have permission to use. Then add the rant layout PNG as an overlay layer above it.
- In CapCut on mobile, start a project with your background clip.
- Tap Overlay, then Add overlay, and choose the PNG you exported from the Maker. Toolbar wording can vary by app version.
- Resize the overlay until all four edges fit inside the video. Extend its timeline handle to the end of the background clip.
- Preview the beginning and end. If a solid square hides the video, return to the Maker and export with a transparent background; image layers can still contain their own background pixels.
See CapCut’s overlay instructions for its current controls.
If the editor asks how to place the image, choose an option that keeps the whole PNG visible. You can resize it smaller, move it up or down, and leave space for captions. The goal is to make the layout sit on top of the video, not replace the video.
3. Fix the 30-second problem
A PNG overlay has its own timeline length. If your background video is 30 seconds but your PNG overlay is only 3 seconds, the layout will disappear after 3 seconds. Select the PNG layer and drag its end handle until it reaches the end of the video.
If the app turns your image into a short clip, that is normal. Treat it like a clip layer and extend it. You do not need to remake the layout.
Common mistakes and quick fixes
The layout disappears before the 30 seconds are over.
The PNG overlay layer is too short. Drag the end of the PNG layer until it reaches the end of your 30-second video.
The layout gets cut off at the sides.
The overlay is being cropped or scaled too large. Use fit, resize it smaller, and keep the full square PNG inside the vertical video frame.
The video background is covered by a white square.
You probably downloaded the white PNG. Export the transparent PNG version when you want a moving background to show through.
There is no room for the rant text.
Move decorations away from the center in RantLayout and check that the middle stays open before exporting.
A simple example
Make a pink or purple transparent rant layout in RantLayout. Download the transparent PNG. In CapCut or another editor, add a 30-second slime video as the background, add the PNG as an overlay, resize it until the full layout is visible, then extend the overlay to the end of the timeline.
After that, add your rant text in short caption chunks. If you want to use the same layout again, keep the PNG without final text and save the editable design or share link from RantLayout.

FAQ
Can RantLayout make the full video for me?
Not yet. RantLayout currently helps you make the reusable rant layout PNG. To make the final video, export a transparent PNG and place it over a video background in CapCut, TikTok, or another editor.
Why does my rant layout get cropped?
Cropping usually happens when the video editor uses a fill or crop setting instead of fitting the PNG overlay. Resize the PNG manually, keep it inside the video frame, and avoid scaling it until the edges leave the canvas.
Should I use transparent PNG or white PNG?
Use transparent PNG when the layout should sit over a slime video, edit, or moving background. Use white PNG when you want the layout to be the full static background.
How do I make the layout stay for a 30-second video?
After adding the PNG overlay in your editor, stretch or extend the PNG layer until it covers the full 30-second timeline. If the layer is shorter than the video, the layout will disappear early.
Where should I add the rant text?
Keep the middle of your layout open in RantLayout, then add the final rant text, captions, or voiceover in your video editor. This keeps the PNG reusable and makes timing easier.
